HOMOFAGSGIVING
HOMOFAGSGIVING is a collaborative community-building exercise for communion with queer ancestors. Part potluck, part ritual, part salon, this installation invites participants to share offerings with queer ancestors, offer rememberances of queer ancestors, and give thanks to their struggle that we may safely gather and experience the possibility of queer liberation. Offerings on the altar include artworks, fruits, sex objects, drinks, special waters, medicines, candles and queer ephemora. Queer ancestors specifically named included personal family and friends, authors Jean Genet and Oscar Wilde, activist Leslie Feinberg, Matthew Shepard, artists David Wojnarowicz and Felix González-Torres, and philosopher Michel Foucault. The gathering concludes with a salon wherein participants share talents such as song, video installation, drags, and performance lecture.
